On May 22-24, 2019, the 5th U.S.-China Governors Collaboration Summit was held in Lexington, Kentucky. Provincial governors from Chongqing, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, vice governor of Gansu province in China, governors or lieutenant governors of Kentucky, Tennessee, Washington, Colorado, Michigan in the U.S and business people from the two countries of about 400 people attended the summit. The two parties conducted talks on topics of economic and trade cooperation, education, culture, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure construction and investment, and e-commerce and cross-border trade. The 5th U.S.-China Governors Collaboration Summit achieved a number of cooperation
The U.S.-China Governors Collaboration Summit, was founded in 2011 by Chinese President Hu Jintao and President Obama in the Sino-US Joint Statement during his visit to the United States in January 2011.
The 5th Summit has about 400 delegates from the two countries, including the Chinese representatives from Chongqing City, Gansu Province, Shaanxi Province, Jiangxi Province, and the head of the embassy together with 19 heads of United States Department of Education and governors of Kentucky, Tennessee, Colorado, Michigan, and Washington.
As reported, participants made in-depth discussions on education and culture, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure construction and investment, e-commerce and cross-border trade during the summit. The governors of China and the United States gathered together to promote local cooperation.
Mr. Lu Kang, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, told in the regular press conference in Beijing on 28th: "During the summit, the participants from China and the US reached consensus on promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US relations through local communications and cooperation. Local governments, enterprises, universities and other institutions of the two sides have signed a series of agreements on strengthening friendship between provinces and states as well as cooperation in agriculture, energy and education."

In addition to keynote speeches by governors from China and the United States, the summit hosted a series of forums to discuss specific topics. Chinese and American entrepreneurs also made many constructive suggestions during the conference to promote bilateral cooperation.
